TRER's Round Top Heavy Rare Earth Deposit Published in Leading International Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journal

The Journal of Rare Earths highlights Round Top project

SIERRA BLANCA, Texas, January 29, 2014 (MARKETWIRED) -- Texas Rare Earth Resources Corp. (TRER), a heavy rare earths exploration company, is pleased to announce that Dr. Nicholas Pingitore, a board member and Professor of Geological Sciences at the University of Texas, El Paso, is the principal author of an article describing the Company’s Round Top project, which has been published by the Journal of Rare Earths in the January 2014 issue. The Journal of Rare Earths is owned by the Chinese Society of Rare Earths.

Titled:  “Round Top Mountain rhyolite (Texas, USA), a massive, unique Y-bearing-fluorite-hosted heavy rare earth element (HREE) deposit,” Dr. Pingitore and his co-authors Dr. Juan E. Clague from the University of Texas, El Paso, and Dan Gorski, TRER CEO, outline the Round Top deposit as a potentially significant source of Yttrium (Y) and heavy rare earth elements (HREEs) in the near future.

“I am incredibly proud of Nick Pingitore and Dan Gorski for introducing the unique mineralogy of the Round Top project to the international rare earth community,” said Anthony Marchese, Chairman. “The article, accepted by the most prestigious peer-reviewed rare earth journal in the world, speaks volumes about the quality of the estimated mineral resource and the quality of the technical work that underlies the project.  Given that virtually all of the world’s research on rare earth minerals originates and is published in China, inclusion in this publication is truly momentous.”

The critical part of the research was conducted using state-of-the-art x-ray absorption spectroscopy techniques at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource, a federal user laboratory that is part of the famed Stanford Linear Accelerator facility.  Before publication, the article was peer-reviewed, the process in which independent scientific experts in the field of study review, negotiate any appropriate changes, and approve, or reject a final version of the research write-up.  This process is considered the “gold standard” in scientific publication.
